Chapel Pentre, Llangollen
2024

In the wilderness of Llangollen stands this derelict church, long abandoned and falling into disrepair. Upon opening the large wooden door one is greeted with a chapel part derelict and part preserved. The large ceiling rose is still intact yet underneath it on the pews and the ground lies rubble from large areas of where the ceiling has crumbled from years of neglect.

I can't find anything online about the history of this chapel and it doesn't seem as if any organisation is responsible for looking after it. Time stands still inside as life continues at a slow pace around it, the organ still in situ having played its last hymn, a wooden clock stands amongst rubble on a window sill frozen at eight minutes to two. The arched windows that ring the chapel are still intact amongst cracked walls shimmering in a pale blue haze.
