Father Hudson Society Complex, Coleshill
Special report

Father Hudson’s Care was established by Fr George Vincent Hudson in 1902 as the Birmingham Diocesan Rescue Society for the protection of homeless and friendless Catholic children. The organisation changed its name to Father Hudson’s Society in 1984.

The Father Hudson Complex started out with the opening of St.Edwards Home for Boys in 1906 with the other buildings being added over the subsequent years.

In the late 1980s the complex was closed for good.

Over a 3 month period during the summer of 2013, I visited The Complex several times in order to to document each separate building within the complex and show the complex in its entirety.

Most of the complex was accessible except for the separate central admin block of the hospital department, along with the chapel.

The Complex was not deemed worthy of saving and was demolished in 2017.
