Manor Sacrament
2024
After a long day driving and photographing during our Ireland trip this particular day hadn't gone as planned as one of the houses we went to had been demolished in the previous days. We missed it by days! So as we drove back to our hotel area we passed this house in the countryside with all the signs of a house that had been abandoned for many years. The torn curtains fluttering beyond a missing window drew our attention initially and after parking up and checking on it, it was obviously abandoned.
We had to be careful as there was a lot of activity in the nearby fields with farmers working their land and a couple of houses nearby overlooking it. For these reasons I wasn't entirely at ease whilst inside so we didn't spend our usual several hours inside. Maybe less than an hour which is lightening fast for myself and Becci.
It was worth the stress though as inside was pure vintage nostalgia in the decor and furnishings and to my joy an upstairs room contained a vintage pram and carry cot and another room had a vintage crib. The rooms weren't overloaded with items which made the house easier to photograph and the colours made them photogenic anyway. To be fair, some houses have way too much stuff in and photographing becomes difficult especially if the floors are littered with items.
AS we headed back to the hotel afterwards we found another new place - a school, which will be added in time.
