Le Bistrot de Tilleke
2015

One of the locations on our 2015 tour across Belgium in the cold days of November. Disaster struck in here as I lined up a shot with my camera on its tripod as usual, I paused, turned around and knocked over the tripod with the camera hitting the concrete ground with brute force. Inevitably both camera and lens were smashed rendering them unusable [until foxed later]. As a consequence i had to wait for my friend to finish her photographs and then borrow her camera. It was like this for the rest of this particular trip. Very frustrating but a steep learning curve to be more careful in future.
The location was a former bistrot/restaurant in a quiet town with a living area attached. I have no idea of any history, of when it became abandoned as there is nothing online about it. I would imagine the bistro hadn't been abandoned for too long as it was in a fairly good state with little signs of the usual decay of places left for decades. There was more decay in the bedroom of the living area than the bistro itself.
The huge art deco fireplace was a particular eye-catcher in the recreation area of the bistrot with its bright orange tiles.
